Atlanta's Rapper Shawty Lo Killed in Car Crash
An Atlanta rapper was killed Wednesday in a fiery crash on I-285 in south Fulton County, according to his official Twitter account.
While the Fulton Medical Examiner’s office has not identified the victim in the crash, the rapper’s brother and a manager confirmed Carlos “Shawty Lo” Walker, known for the hit “Dey Know,” died in the accident on the I-285 southbound ramp to Cascade Road. Shawty Lo was also a member of the Atlanta rap group D4L, who scored a hit with “Laffy Taffy.”
The crash happened about 2:20 a.m. and temporarily blocked the ramp to Cascade Road. Read More.

Popcaan Kills Wiz Khalifa, Eskimo Dance & UKG Allstars Sound at Redbull Culture Clash w/ a Drake "One Dance" Dublate
Last night, the 2016 Red Bull Culture Clash went down in London, and it saw four exciting crews, each armed with its own soundsystem, competing to see who could shut down the O2 Arena most resoundingly. This year's competitors were the NYC-based dancehall label Mixpak -- led by Jamaican star Popcaan, Wiz Khalifa's Taylor Gang, Eskimo Dance -- a team of grime elites fronted by Wiley, and the UKG Allstars -- a group of artists and DJs responsible for the lasting sound of UK garage.
The winner ended up being Mixpak, and Popcaan delivered the final blow by playing a brand new version of Drake's biggest-ever hit, "One Dance," which is currently No. 1 in both the US and the UK. He dropped the song after shouting out his OVO bredrin, and telling the crowd "Fuck Wiz Khalifa!" -- nothing that's out of the norm in a Culture Clash and certainly not indicative of any real beef.
The new "One Dance" that the Unruly boss played is a heavier, club-focused dubplate of the original, and it includes new lyrics that Drake slipped in for Popcaan himself: "Streets not safe, Poppy never run away, even when he's away." It so happens that Poppy had been dissed for getting left off the final edit of "Controlla" that made it onto VIEWS, and the "One Dance" dubplate, exclusively gifted to him by Drizzy, was his response. It's assumed that the remix duties come courtesy of Mixpak boss Dre Skull or some of the label's other producers. God willing, let's hope this sees an official release early into the summer season.

Note: While VEVO is a web based monetization network and most web images are at 72dpi, Roc Video Promo requests all images are 300dpi or a very large 72dpi. The reason for this is VEVO banners can be displayed on big screen televisions at 1080p/1080i as well as the smallest cellphone screens. When dealing with digital photos that are not vectorized, you can scale them down in size but CAN NOT enlarge them without losing almost all quality. Please take this into consideration when providing assets as - the better the materials you send, the more professional your VEVO banner will look!

Prince Dies at Age 57
Prince has died aged 57 at his estate in Minnesota. Paramedics were called to his Paisley Park studio at 9.43 this morning. Carver County Sheriff's Department confirmed that there had been a fatality. A forensics team and a medical examiner are at the scene. Prince, 57, was hospitalized six days ago with flu symptoms. He was aboard a flight when he fell ill, forcing it to make an unscheduled landing in Illinois on Friday morning. The singer's plane diverted to Quad City International Airport in Moline, Illinois, to make the emergency landing. He had had been suffering from flu for a number of weeks and was believed to be recovering, but took a turn for the worse in the early hours of Friday. He was treated for three hours before being released. Initial reports on his condition painted a much graver pictures, with one source claiming at the time he was 'not doing well'. The Purple Rain hitmaker had performed at The Fox Theatre in Atlanta on last Thursday night - the second of two back to back sold out shows - and had seemed fine during the concert. Read More

A Tribe Called Quest Phife Dawg Passes Away
Phife Dawg passed away yesterday (March 22), which brought much sadness to the rap community as many took to social media to pay their respects to the A Tribe Called Quest rapper.
The family of Phife Dawg, born Malik I. Taylor, has released a statement about the 45-year-old's death.
"We regret to share the news that on Tuesday March 22nd, 2016, Malik has passed away due to complications resulting from diabetes.
"Malik was our loving husband, father, brother and friend. We love him dearly. How he impacted all our lives will never be forgotten. His love for music and sports was only surpassed by his love of God and family."
Phife Dawg had a long battle with diabetes and had a kidney removed in 2008.

Grammy Producer Says Taylor Swift Had an Advance Copy of Kanye West’s “Famous” Track
Don’t be so quick to pick
sides. Although Kanye West got a ton of bad press over his song
‘Famous’, where he makes a joke about having sex with Taylor Swift for
making that “b*tch famous”, there may be more to the story than many
Kanye West haters would like to believe. Initially upon Kanye’s release
of his The Life of Pablo album, many Kanye and Taylor fans alike were upset that Kanye would again come after Taylor. But soon after its release, TMZ
reported that Kanye West called Taylor many weeks earlier to get her
approval. However a rep for Swift soon rebutted those reports, saying
Taylor did not give her approval and wasn’t made aware of the actually
lyric.
And if Taylor didn’t
actually give her approval, and didn’t know the actual lyric, then maybe
Kanye should have left it out… But now, according to the Grammy Award‘s producer, Ken Ehrlich, Taylor Swift not only knew of the lyric, she even had an advance copy of the track.
