John Preston "Before I Am Gone" Official Music Video

Bio:

John Preston is a Concore Entertainment recording artist and full time firefighter. John was a Marine Corps field wireman from 2000 to 2004 achieving the rank of Sergeant in his 4 years of service. John was with Second Battalion Seventh Marines (2/7) and served as a mission squad leader for 2/7 H&S running over 100 combat missions while in theatre.

John began his music career while in Iraq writing his song "Good Good America" which became an overnight success and gave John his first shot at the music industry signing a record deal upon his return from Iraq. The song and video inspired by Iraqi school children was a national media topic and was viewed hundreds of thousands of times in 2004.

John returned to the music industry in 2014 signing with Pacific Records and quickly releasing his first single "this IS war" in October of 2014. The song also became a national media topic when the Marine veteran made a call to action to veterans across the nation to stand against ISIS which had just made a surge through Syria and Iraq. The music video had thousands of views and secured John a second release with Pacific Records.

Just one month later, John released his Los Angeles Music Awards nominated EP "Your War is Over" and again took to the media. This time the topic was very different. John and two Marine bandmates had released a veterans tribute album that he referred to as being for us by us. John highlighted veterans' struggles with Post Traumatic Stress and suicide and took the fight public with several TV and radio appearances across the United States. John and Pacific Records partnered with Boot Campaign and donated 30% of album sales to help combat PTSD. John and his band took to the road and raised thousands of dollars up and down the coast of California for several different veteran charities all while never accepting any payment and giving all proceeds from the events back to the cause.

Still receiving accolades and media for his "Your War is Over" EP, John took to the studio again and in September of 2015 released in the Top 100 New Alternative Albums chart with his second EP "Day to Night." With this EP, John told the story of a Marine he was connected to that was killed on his last day of combat. Again, John took to the media continuing with his fight against PTSD, veteran suicide, and also reminding the people of America that the country is still at war. The album was released on the one year anniversary of the death of the Marine for whom he had written the song. John's video for Day to Night has had hundreds of thousands of views. Rather than celebrate his success, John continued to play charity events and do media all over the country now becoming a national advocate against veteran suicide.

John's life took a turn of tragic irony when in January of 2016 John's own brother fell victim to post traumatic stress and took his own life. The passing of his brother was enough to make him consider ending his career, but has instead fueled his hard work and passion and his new single "superman falls" on a compilation album titled Battlecry: Songs of America's Heroes. Preston Executive produced the album and was the driving force which saw the album reach #21 on the iTunes rock charts and continues to spread not only through the veteran community but the mainstream.

John signed with Concore Entertainment/ Universal Music Group and his single "before I am gone" released on October 17th and reached #168 on the iTunes alternative charts and is still currently charting on the iIndependent European Radio charts. John is donating 100% of his sales profit to Stop Soldier Suicide.

"We are taking our message to the public and today we tell the mainstream that we are here and we are loud. The perception of the broken veteran is a myth that we refuse to buy into. My music is about our lives and the real battles we have and continue to fight: on and off the battlefield. We are here to show our community and the general public our talent, work ethic and our drive to push forward through all adversity."

Unity Lewis ft. Rappin' 4-Tay- Cold Game Video

Cold Game Music Video Summary:

The Cold Game music video is a commentary on sad and ever-present, recurring current events, involving the perpetual plight of underprivileged people in the United States. In this video, Unity Lewis plays the role of an individual tormented by visions of police brutality; visions that are repercussions of living in a tense climate between the police and the community. In his vision, he is pushed by paranoia to the edges of insanity. This video presents the unsettling facts, pain and frustration of being trapped in the ghetto while living in a police state. It demonstrates how constant exposure to an environment of violence can cause maddening and deadly psychological damage. This song also chronicles what seems to be a never ending conflict in America between law enforcement and the people in which they are sworn to protect. Cold Game beckons the viewer to look within and center themselves before reacting in a way that feeds into the traps set forth by a toxic system. It suggests to both, civilian and officer that instead of fueling the destructive cycle of violence, we should find our humanity and consider other ways of seeking out justice and peace.

Killer Mike Interviews P-Funk Legend George Clinton About Hip Hop, The Dungeon Family & More (VIDEO)

by

It’s hard to imagine a “Dungeon Family Sound” without the musical legacy of George Clinton.
The leader of the iconic funk pioneers Parliament-Funkadelic was such a musical influence on the Atlanta rap crew that Clinton was even featured on OutKast’s “Synthesizer.”
Dungeon Family member Killer Mike sat down at his SWAG barber shop with Clinton for an NPR interview.
The 75-year-old Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame inductee discussed running his own barber shop business, using counterfeit money to fund his music career, his eccentric fashion style, making introspective tunes, and the rise of Hip Hop.
“When Hip Hop came along, I just looked at it like, ‘Okay, this reminds me of when we were young… and my mother would say, “What the hell are you talking about?”‘ When I heard someone [beatboxing], it didn’t bother me,” said Clinton.
The singer-songwriter/producer also talked about once mentoring now-veteran Atlanta area hitmakers such as Dallas Austin, Jermaine Dupri, and Dungeon Family’s Organized Noize in the early 1990’s.
“They just let me be like the school teacher,” explained Clinton. “It was about music, and they would actually listen.”
According to the “Atomic Dog” performer, the Dungeon Family and OutKast inspired him as well.
“They gave me a lot of inspiration to keep going when they got to their height as OutKast. I ain’t got nothing to worry about,” Clinton added.

WorldstarHipHop.com Founder “Q” Dead At Age 43

Q, the founder WorldstarHipHop.com, one of the most popular Hip-Hop sites in the world died today (January 24).
Q, born Lee O’Denat, died in his sleep at the age of 43, according to multiple reports.
“My condolences go out to his family. Q was an entrepreneur, a pioneer and all around great guy,” Kevin Black, former President of WorldStarHipHop.com told AllHipHop.com.
The website was founded in 2005, with controversial fight videos, mixtapes, stripper videos and interviews with rappers.
“Hip-hop is for the sex, the drugs, the violence, the beefs, the culture,” Q told the New York Times in 2015. “That’s the competitiveness of hip-hop, so I felt like the site needed to be R-rated.”
Before his untimely death, Q had been planning the launch of “World Star TV,” which is a 10-episode weekly comedy/sketch series set to debut on February 3 on MTV2.
“God bless ya family & friends. You was a real solid, stand-up dude,” Atlanta rapper T.I. said. “We can’t thank you enough for all you’ve done for all of US!!! You were always pleasant & positive through all the madness. You built a brand that changed the course of culture. Your legacy will live on. On behalf of The Harris Family, BankRoll Mafia & The Hustle Gang, We offer our truest & deepest condolences. With Love & Respect. Rest Easy King. #RIPQ.”
“RIP to my guy Q@worldstar we got some years in. Great, Great, Great Dude,” said Charlamagne Tha God. “One of those moments where you don’t cry because it’s over, you smile because it happened. SMH. Brother was already up but he had some phenomenal things cooking.”
